The European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will go into effect in May 2018, which will require all businesses, regardless of their location, that do business within the EU to dramatically shift their data handling practices.

In order to avoid steep financial penalties and potentially intrusive enforcement actions, businesses must make changes to their oversight, technology, processes and people to adequately protect the personal data of EU residents.

It is a big undertaking, and businesses around the globe must kick-off their compliance strategies immediately in order to comply by the deadline.
